Correction - this is the biggest problem you have with *nVidia* - again, just like that same nonsense with Vista, it's not Windows 7's problem, it is nVidia's problem.

Hey Ben
I have the same Graphics Cards (2 of them) and have the same problems from the Newest to the oldest (WDDM 1.1), and have wasted lots of hours trying to get responses from the nVidia Developers Team on their Forum Web site, no answers. They Suck.

The most Stable Version for my x64 and x86 version is the XP version 175.19 (installed in XP Compatibility mode) for older cards, but it is not the most stable it should be.

I have found that since the removal of the nView (nVidia classic Control Panel) services, the System is always having unstable issues. This happened with Vista on up. And they will not tell why they have disabled its installation. The nView files are in the Loader App. but stay in a cab file.
If I can ever learn how to install and register the nView files I will publish it on this site.

edit:
I just finished a bit of testing. At this time I have been able to install the nVidia Desktop Manager on my Windows 7 7100 x64 version.
This is how I have done it.
First, I uninstalled the existing drivers, disabled the auto updater, boot in to safe mode and run the Drive Sweeper (you can find it at "Guru3D.com"and at "Phyxion.net") and cleaned out the drivers.
Then (still in safe mode) I installed the older Win 7 x64 driver version (181.71) and after the install (still in safe mode, not reboot yet) I extracted and run the "nViewSetup.exe" file.
Then rebooted, now it (nVidia Desktop Manager) is in the Control Panel, and it works, a couple less settings tabs, but not ones that I needed, rean the settings that I desired, like "Prevent windows from opening off screen", Dis checked the "Enable windows (and Child window) spanning accross multiple displays", set the "Snap window edges by:" 5 pixels, "Dialog box repositioning", "Application Tab" = custom settings, and Hot keys.

This is just the start, I plan on enabling the Classic Panel soon. With it you can customize the graphics settings (micro management) for each and every display you have, (I have 4 on one computer and 3 on another and 2 on another) no kidding.
