    Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME cards

Is there any way of installing drivers for these videos in W7 build 7100?

I have an IBM R50e thinkpad running XP & am testing W7 to see if it will operate reasonably (althernative being some Linux distro).

I have downloaded & installed Intel 82852-82845.zip & it reported satisfactory install, but Control Panel properties now reports "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

I tried Soundmax while running W7 & no good. If I ran it from XP & saved on a USB stick would it get me a usable driver?

i get the same problem exactly with this video card
    on my HP nx9030 laptop.

it still work in the native res of 1024X768
but in device manager i get a exclamation mark and code 43.

plus. do you think this card can enable aero if properly installed?

If it has this card I am guessing your machine, like mine, is not a really modern one. I am reasonably certain advanced features like aero won't run on mine even if I get a proper video driver, but standby mode might become available. And for the record, W7 initially opened up with an 800 x 600 screen, but it will reset to 1024x768.

    Hi All

there are reg hacks that are suppos to force all the funky features of 7 and by now i think ive tried them all and a few besides, and none work.

The best i can get is the Aero Shake and thats it.

scuppered me thinks...oh for the want of a decent laptop to trial with.

    Hey All

Just installed build 7229 and the drivers for this chipset now appear to be included..:):)

Aero support still appears to be very limited though

That's right, there wasn't a driver in 7229 for me either, except the vga one.
@Bateman26 nice, that would be the second driver that works with windows 7.
I used another XP/2K driver which in addition supports basic hardware acceleration (up to DirectX 7, sadly no OpenGL). External display work great too. It is better than nothing, since Intel does not support Intel Graphics 915 and below, anymore. Maybe this driver works for you too.
Intel(r) Extreme Graphics Driver Production Version 13.6.0.3722 (Driver Version 6.14.10.3722)

Maybe Microsoft implement a working XPDM driver in Windows 7 until the release, that would be great.
