radeon 4650, win 7 and LCD TV - HELP

    Hi,

I am configuring a media PC, win 7 connected via VGA to a 32 inch LCD TV. Im struggling to configure the system to output consistently to the TV.

I am able to connect via VGA to a monitor, set the resolution to 1368x760 which is the res of the TV, reconnect the VGA to the TV and all works fine.

    until I reboot or shutdown...

The pc goes through bios, outputing fine to the TV. I see windows startup and as soon as it hits the login screen or windows I get a "no signal" message on the TV. On reconnecting the pc to a monitor the res has reset to 1650xsomething, not the native res of the TV I configured previously.

what the hell is doing this and how can i configure to avoid

I am actually going mad and taking a lot of flak from MAC users. Please help. I have the most up to date drivers from the support site. Can i force the res settings somehow?

I had my 4870 (upgraded to XFX 5870 xxx Edition and it's is awesome) hooked up from my DVI to my Vizio 37" HDTV and only needed a DVI-VGA adapter and it runs 1920x1080. I'm wondering if the 1368x760 is native to the 4850 I didn't find it listed. I know for a fact that when I run Unigine Sanctuary Benchmark and it runs at 1024x768 full screen it does not lack contrast and wonder if you chose that it might solve your issue. If it doesn't list the TV model information and I'll do some research. It is quite possible your TV is like mine and needs to run from the PC on the RGB setting in your TV menu.

I think the main issue is that the TV is a bit 'crap' (for want of a beter word). The only resolution allows is this 1368x760 which seems to be available on the radeon settings also. I havent tried using the DVI output with a converter (the only has VGA and HDMI) or HDMI.

It seems very strange how it works on the TV if i preconfigure the res using a monitor and switch to the TV ONLY if I configure the 1368x760 res but rebooting the device resets the res to 1650x...

Perhaps the TV doesnt respond to any impulses from the PC and the PC reverts to a default res.

    Baffled. Baffled, baffled, baffled
