It's not an HD monitor so I think I'll just hold off on the HD card till the next computer. My current temp is 66c with just itunes and firefox running. Not sure why there is such a big difference. The side of the case is still off too.

You are probably right in assuming the card is going south, but you might take a look at this article here:
How to troubleshoot video card problems
And see if there is anything else you could test or try.
The article is old but the advice is timeless.

If your running a Nvidia card try downloading Evga precision and setting the fan at 100% and then check your temps. You may have a fan going south or after 5 years their could still be a build up of dust bunnies in the heat sink and fan that might require you to remove the card and give it a good cleaning out with canned air or go as far as removing the heatsink and fan and manually cleaning it and re-installing it with new thermal compound.
While you have it out take a look at the capacitors and make sure none of them are rounded on top or leaking as well, remember to handle with care and to ground yourself by touching the case to avoid any static transfer. Evga precision |MG| EVGA Precision 1.9.5 Download Fabe

I downloaded the program but it won't let me control the fan speed. I've only had the card since March. I've had the computer though for about 5 years.
