In both cases, try downloading and installing the latest drivers for your motherboard. If that fails, then try another drive in it's place. If a temporary replacement drive works, then it is most likely that the original drive has failed.

    Try this:
Type "Device Manager" in the Start Search box (without apostrophies). Click on DVD/CD ROM Drives, right click on your drive and click "Update Driver software". Has your drive entry got a yellow triangle on it?

Go here : Your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media
Click on run now ...and let window search for new drive ....it works for me every time .
Unless you guys have hardware problem ...then you need to replace it.

If no exclamation mark and after updating the drivers, still if u have issues, goto device manager, uninstall your dvd drive. Restart and wait for windows to detect and install your dvd drive.

Can you try some other CD/DVD and let us know if the issue persists?

I believe the media you are trying to read is corrupt.
