Compaq Evo n610c
I'm not sure whether this is the correct place to post this (didn't know if Hardware & Devices was limited to Windows 7 problems or not - this isn't a Windows 7 problem). I posted this on another forum dedicated to laptop hardware problems, a couple of days ago and I got no response, so I'll just quote what I posted there.
I own a Compaq Evo n610c, I feel that it may be unsafe to be using it - lots of problems with it. The first thing is, while on, it emits a whining sound. When on charge the cord has to be bent pretty hard in order for it to charge. I've also found that I can't leave the battery in, it seems to be draining while its in - I've also found that power is leaving the laptop through the power jack (the light on my charger lights up when just plugged into this part and not plugged into the wall). When on battery, the OS always seem to think I'm on power, even if I'm not. I've also found some sort of white marking on the battery like some sort of white powder has been rubbed on to it. I've also found that while on power, touching things like the metal volume buttons and some parts of the case will give of what seems like really really bad static, however this has only happened since I started having to use a 19v charger, where as I should be using an 18.5v charger. My two questions are, is the static being given off because of the charger voltage and is it safe to use the laptop with all these problems (for both the laptop and me, though obviously I am more concerned about myself than the laptop)?
