    installing new motherboard

    hi everyone,

i just bought a new motherboard. before it gets here, i need some clarification on installation. i know i back up my hard drive so i can restore my things and settings later right? and then i know ill have to do a clean install of windows 7. what i'm not clear on from reading previous posts and search results is does the clean install come before i install the new motherboard or after i install? i guess its a stupid question, but i'm confused.

im upgrading to an MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard

After. Doing it before would be the same as just taking the old drive and install, and adding it to the new motherboard.

Definitely after. During install, the OS will optimize itself for that motherboard and it's chipset (you may still need to install drivers that come with the board).

You would definitely do it afterwards, as mentioned, because if you did it before, there'd be no reason to do a clean install in the first place!

This way, your clean install will only get drivers installed for the hardware present in the system...not what is being replaced.
