Left click isn't working correctly! Help!

Alright, well I don't know much about laptops or computers, or at least not enough to help me in this situation. My laptop, a compaq hp persario CQ61, got its modem fried and refuses to allow me to use dial up internet. Well I borrow my mother's laptop now and again but her laptop is experiencing problems. The left click on the mousepad refuses to work correctly. It allows me to click into things to type and documents and such, but on the internet when I pull up something that shows the little box next to a sentence that says "I agree to the terms" or "Save my password" it won't let me click it at all. And I know it's something to do with the computer because I used my tablet pen and tablet mouse to see if it would work and it's not working. So if there is no solution to this problem could someone please tell me how to mark those boxes using my keyboard keys? I'd really appreciate all the help I can get!!

My mother's laptop is an HP G60 equipped with Windows 7 of course.

I did try, buuut to no avail. My left click is working enough to allow me to click open IE, and programs, but refuses to allow me to open links until I right click and select open. It will not allow me to check any boxes or click any circles options like you would do on a quiz site. I can use tab for most of my issues but it is vital that I find a way to use my left click. I did try your advice and reverse it but it didn't fix my problem. I still cannot check any boxes. Could it be that there is too much stuff on my mother's laptop that is causing this issue but I am not computer expert or even intermediate when it comes to that.

Welcome to Seven Forums LindsayPrower. Here is something to try

Start> in search box type Run and press enter

    Type in

    regsvr32 urlmon.dll

    Click OK

When you receive the succeeded message, click OK. See if you can left click to open a link.
