In the interim - have you made sure you've distributed the devices over the rails evenly?
It has four 12v rails, but each only has a rating of 18amps. Overloading a particular rail will give you issues.
An 850W isn't necessary for the devices you have listed, but I'd still opt for one in case you wish to upgrade your GPU / start overclocking etc down the track.
Wattage isn't the most important number to consider however. A good quality PSU with a high AMPS is what you should be looking for.
That TX 850W you linked to fit's the bill perfectly. The only downside is that it's not modular.
Some people do - Full HD rips take up a lot of space
Are you serious?
I checked the specs on the WD 1GB Caviar Black drive. 8.4W each during read/write operations. that's 50.4W for six, at maximum.
I think that the Xigmatech unit would have plenty of margin even if the CPU is seriously overclocked, as long as "damdam" doesn't upgrade to a 300W graphics card (GTX480, Radeon HD3970).
I see that he (/she/it) is going with 6GB of RAM, which is more like it.
ok this is what i got on the 650w XigmaTek NRP-MC651
and i did a stress test for 3H (Prime95) all good no error or power failure
