    Auto-Detect issue

My computer has developed a lag during startup. When the boot process gets to Auto-detecting USB Mass Storage Devices there is a noticeable pause whereas there was none before. It is not consistent, sometimes it happens and then sometimes it doesn't. Is this a problem and what can I do about it? - If you unplug your external usb devices, does it lag?
    - update your bios, if possible
    - select primary boot as hard drive, and do not have any other boot devices
    - disable legacy usb support
