I use W7 Home Premium and would like to make a backup of my entire system. I will use the image method and the combination of my C and D discs are about 125GB total. It appears to me that this Seagate will do the job, however, I would like some opinions before I purchase it. Thanks
You can get a 1TB external hd for $75. Why limit yourself. You can store an image of your hd, as well as back it up. Will the 250GB be ok? Yes. But go ahead and get the larger drive.

I considered size when I bought my WD 250GB drive, which is USB powered with no fans or anything. It's small enought that I'm able to tuck it away somewhere for safe storage. This was a couple of years ago so I'm not sure how far along the technology has come.
I'd vote for a larger size--at least 500gb.
The price differential as you move to larger sizes is minimal.
You are likely to end up wanting to keep more than 1 image. You may want to image the C and D drives separately. You may want to make an image with more than 1 imaging application. You may want to use the backup drive to backup WITHOUT using an image as well as WITH an image.
All of those possibilities mean more space. Unless you are really in a money jam, I would move up a bit at least.
