Seagate external hard drive not accessible as a drive

    OK, then with the disk connected, go to Users --> {your user name}
    make sure hidden folders are set to show in Folder options
    Look for your Desktop folder - see if there are *2* of them....

    There is only one desktop folder.

    Thanks - mine looks similar. However, I have that one unknown device that's giving me the Code 43 error that I mentioned in my initial post. I have a screenshot - but can't seem to find a way to post it.

    I take it that this HD is in Seagate's own enclosure, Did it come with any setup CD install disc?

    Yes, it is in its own enclosure - no setup required - there was a registration program on the disk, but no drivers. It was automatically recognized as a valid drive in both XP and Vista.

    Have you done windows update with your RC-7100? When did you install RC-7100? is x86 or x64 ?

    Yes, just did a Windows Update, actually. Installed RC-7100 Monday - it's the x86 Build.
