I too am a supporter of building your own machine.
My main reason is:
Typically, most pre-built machines use the cheapest parts they can get, from whatever company offers them the lowest price in bulk.
Mostly PSU, RAM, and even the MOBO occsionally.
Although the CPU and GPUs may decent, the core backbone of the system may not be.
Sometimes, the info on exactly what hardware is used takes a bit of digging around, and many times different from build to build.
Building your own, you can have complete control of the quality of parts used.
Thats not saying all pre-builts are bad, or all do this. But many do.
There are some good pre-builts out there. (Some just as good as a custom build)
