Is this HD any good?

HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.B 0A38016 1TB SATA II 7200 RPM 16MB Buffer Hard Drive Bulk at ZipZoomfly

Will this be compatible with my inspiron e1505 dell? Thanks!

My old comp finally died and it had so much stuff on It that I still want, so I need a hard drive that big.

The Hard-Drive is a good hard drive and will do you fine.

If you have the little extra money to spend I suggest you get this hard-drive.

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SpinPoint-Desktop-Class-HD103UJ/dp/B000XZ5JBW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242871161&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: Samsung SpinPoint F1 Desktop Class HD103UJ - Hard drive - 1 TB - internal - 3.5" - SATA-300 - 7200 rpm - buffer: 32 MB: Electronics[/ame]

It has some technology in it to get more space from the hard-drive and is also faster.

Max. 334GB Formatted Capacity per Disk
Improved recording stability over temperature with PMR
Serial ATA 3.0Gbps Interface Support
1tb hard drives, samsung hard drive, HD103UJ
Advanced dynamic FOD control for best data integrity

Only if your using the hard-drive as your main one though. The extra speed would be pointless if its only for storage.

If you have a look around i'm sure you could find it at lower price, but I only know amazon for US place to buy things.

Personally I'm waiting for this little gem to come down in price. Newegg.com - Western Digital WD20EADS 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

For larger drives like a 1tb sized drive with a 16 or 32mb cache take a look at the various drives seen at Newegg.com - Hard Drives,Internal Hard Drives,1TB and higher,$75 - $100,

Newegg also has an excellent exchange policy if you get into a bad drive by chance.

I noticed the 1tb WD Green Power model seen there dropped some $20- lately from the previous $109.99. I run that model here as the main storage device.

One thing I agree with James1010 on is always seeing a slight lag when going to access any larger secondary drive. It's more noticible however when in the XP mode.

Could someone recommend a decent SATA laptop hard drive as i'm starting to get pretty sick of just 40GB

Note: I've added to this thread as i think a new thread would be a bit silly LOL

If you have the money mabye a Solid State Drive? The Performance in them is excellent. If not, and you just want a normal HDD then any old one would do.

I would suggest get this.

Hitachi Travelstar 7K320 320GB 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM 0A57547 at TigerDirect.com

Its an extra 6 Dollars more expensive than the 160GB Model on the site.

Extra 6 dollars for an extra 140GB Seems good to me.

I saw your other thread about using an external usb connection. Hard drive replacement

For 500gb capacity drives newegg has a few to look over at Newegg.com - Hard Drives,Laptop Hard Drives,500GB,

It depends if you need a sata or ide model for the laptop there.

Consider portable hard drives in conjunction with a laptop drive. Portable hard drives are usb powered and are easily portable.

Does anybody know of a good music player that has a good Equalizer? IMO, the equalizer sucks for WMP 11, realplayer free, and my sound card. I like the PowerAMP app for my android, the equalizer has a sick bass. but it's not available on pc.
