    Graphics cards

Out of pure question, which of these cards is better?

    1GB NVIDIA ASUS ENGT220 DDR2 HDMI
1GB NVIDIA ASUS ENGT220 DDR2 HDMI available at Computer orBIT Commerce Centre - No.1 for PC components

    OR

1GB ATI POWERCOLOR HD5570 PCX HDMI
1GB ATI POWERCOLOR HD5570 PCX HDMI available at Computer orBIT Commerce Centre - No.1 for PC components

Got my build approved, just getting a professional electrician (basically a computer genius) to build it for me, as he gets parts cheaper. then i wondered, so which vote.

Or suggest one, and know what? i've just seen the graphics card section XD sorry.
    -PSU- 500W
    -Motherboard (and/or slots) ASUS P7H55-M MOTHERBOARD LGA1156
    -Budget - £100? ($160 ish)

Which motherboard are you using? I would go for the NVidia myself, as it's what I use on my system (not that particular card, but an 8800GT). However, I would base my actual decision on your chipset - if it is NVidia-based then I would go with that and if AMD-based then the ATI card.

Posted specs, just forgot to at first, i've seen people with bad reps for Nvidia as my friends fried itself and caused his computer to crash, maybe the card was aweful, never know. But yeah, im thinking intel core i3

One thing to consider is the 5570 will support dx11 the 220 wont.

I usually pick Nvidia but i think i would have to go with the ATI card in this case.

Nividia & ATI both occasionally have a bad card. And drivers for that matter.

But this is true of any hardware, regardless of brand name.
    RAM, Motherboard, CPU.

Sometimes there is a bad apple. Its just the way things are.
You can not base a descision on 1 persons experience.

As far as which is better, both camps make an excellent GPU.
It comes down mostly to personal preference and what you intend to do.

    For example:
ATI seems to have a better single card solution in the sense:
They use less power, run cooler, and cost less (Price Vs Performance they win over Nvidia).

Nvidia are just as good and in some cases faster (performance wise).
Their multiple GPU solutions also scale much better than ATIs Crossfire.
However, they use more power, run hotter, and cost slightly more.

Overall, I would tend to agree with Dwarf. Chipset type can be another factor worth considering.

Both cards have pros and cons. Just choose your preference.

On paper the 5570 has the edge on the GT 220,

    Video Card Comparison - GPUReview.com

and if you check the reviews at the bottom, it is. It also uses slightly less power and as someone already mentioned is DirectX 11 whereas the GT 220is DirectX 10. You want a little better for only a couple of £££ more than the 5570 you linked to, then the 5670 from here,

Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [AX5670 512MD5-H] Graphics and Video ATI HD 5600 Series

would be an even better choice.

I ended up getting the ATI card, sent my email to my friendly electrician, probberly get the parts cheaper, this is what i sent: Processor: Intel Core I3 90 £87.70
    Motherboard: ASUS P7H55-M MOTHERBOARD LGA1156 £66.31
Graphics card: 1GB ATI POWERCOLOR HD5570 PCX HDMI £68.63
    RAM: DDR3 1333MHz MEMORY (x2) £69.98
    HDD: 500GB HITACHI SATA 7200RPM 16MB HDD £35.98
    OS: Windows 7
    Extra: Wireless PCI Adapter

    £328.60

Im going to get more ram and probably 2 more HDD'S for Christmas, wonder if my mum believes i can fit them myself -.-

I especially like this review: "Got this card for mainly World of Warcraft, Run everything bar shadows in ultra at 60+fps! Runs smooth and ATI software does a good job of clocking card if your not wanting to take any risks using RivaTuner etc.

Would recommend anyone wanting a budget gaming card! "
as its what im planning to build around.
