How do you know your keyboard and mouse are freezing your computer and the problem is not your computer freezing with the symptoms being your keyboard and mouse no longer work? Have you tried any other keyboard or mouse?

When wireless keyboards and mice first came out, I wasted a bunch of money on them - they were all junk, IMO. But over time, they got better and since last August, I've been using MS Wireless Mouse 5000 and Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000.

That said, I still keep a wired keyboard and mouse connected too (my desk has a nice shelf underneath) and they came in handy when the batteries died. Even if you don't keep a wired keyboard connected, you should always have one handy - just in case.

When I bought them they were for a computer running XP, it was the change to a new computer running 7 that started the problem. When I remove Setpoint from the computer it causes no problems but I lose the additional functions of the keyboard and mouse which I do use. I can check to see what the 5000 spec is, one question, does it show on screen when you have caps on and off. If the answer is affirmative I will order one. Many thanks.

does it show on screen when you have caps on and off.
For about 3 seconds, then it fades out. Same with Num lock and Scroll lock.

And to be sure, you did install the 64-bit, Windows 7, Ver 6.15.25 of Setpoint dated 7/20/2010, right?

Have ordered the Microsoft 5000. The Logitech software was the latest for the 64bit version. Thanks for your help, looking forward to the new keyboard and mouse.

You're welcome. I hope you find the one you've chosen to be satisfactory.
