Mouse clicking and scrolling on its own

Is there any reason why my laptop's pointer sometimes just click and scrolls on its own? Most of the time it doesnt, but sometimes, if my pointer is on a button (close, submit, etc), it automatically clicks it. i am sure that there is nothing pressing the left mouse buttons (the built in ones and the actual mouse i sometimes use) when it happens, so what is going on? the only things in the mouse setting that i have changed is the speed of the pointer, not the double-click speed or anything else.

try to SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker and see what you get.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for your laptop touchpad?
