Samsung SH-S222A not not being found by windows 7

However it shows up when I go into setup in bios... and it doesn't show in windows explorer, and when I put in a CD, I don't get the autoplay thing at all either. Help? It worked before I had a computer shop move all my parts into a new case and they're closed today otherwise I'd call them and bitch

What type of connection is it? IDE or SATA?

Also make sure the jumper on the back of the drive is set to master and not slave. Also, if this is an IDE drive it needs to be at the end of the cable and not the middle connector. The middle is for slave drives.

Oh sorry, it's an IDE drive, and I'm pretty sure those tech guys didn't mess with the jumper on the drive either without my permission. And the drive IS connected to the end of the IDE cable.

Check to see that your hard is connected to the lowest numbered IDE slot (blue connector on some boards).

Also, check the drivers and see if it shows up there as faulty with an "!" point.
If so then remove it and allow it to re-install. Not really sure. This can be caused by a number of problems.

Always check the BIOS first. If it shows in the BIOS, you have a software issue. If it doesn't show in the BIOS, you either have a dead drive, or one that isn't connected properly.

If it shows up in BIOS, but not in Windows, it might be a driver issue. Does the drive show up in Windows Explorer if you put in a disk that isn't blank? You may have the system configured to hide empty drives, and the Autoplay function turned off...
