OK, turn OFF desktop computer, disconnect data & power cables from DVD drive. Turn ON computer, power all the way up to your windows desktop. Then shut down computer to OFF. Re-connect Data & Power cables to DVD drive. Now turn ON computer again, be connected to the internet. Let windows possibly re-install DVD drive.

Yes that looks correct for an IDE DVD drive. There is also a small jumper in the 6 pin area.

Ma = Master (primary) optical drive
SL = Slave (Secondary) optical drive
CS or DS = Cable select ( selected by connector position on flat ide cable)

It should have a jumper in one of the 3 positions.

    check this info

The little plastic jumper needs to be in at least one of the 3 positions. Best choice is probably SL = slave . Do you have any other IDE optical or Hard Drives connected to this computer ?

    Hello aazaa,

You would probably get better help and keep this thread from being confusing if you start your own.
