Sorry, I am just a fan of the Vantec enclosures, been using them for sometime and never had any issue with them. Easy to assemble and compact in their foot print. Nothing I've ever plugged them into has ever had an issue with their chipset either.
Whichever solution you choose, an enclosure with a desktop HDD is going to be hard to beat unless you just have to have the ultra portability of a USB powered only solution.
