Logitech G19 software problem

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I've just built a new system which includes Logitech G19 keyboard. After installing Windows7 x64, I installed the newest drivers for the G19 keyboard. Afterwards when I installed a DVD into the burner to test it, autoplay started playing the movie with "no sound". If I close Windows media player, restart it and then start the movie, it works fine. Only if "autoplay" starts the DVD, I get no sound. I then removed the Logitech G19 software and everything is fine again. Since it was a fresh install I started over again. Installed Windows7 again, installed "no updates" this time and checked Windows media player. Started and autoplayed the DVD just fine. Then I installed the G19 software and the problem came back. I contacted Logitech support and they tried to play it off on 1) I need codecs, 2) it's a media player problem etc. Until I told them it was a fresh install and it was their software causing the problem. They recommended I roll back to previous versions of their software, which also doesn't work. How can this be no one else has noticed this? It's not that big of a deal, just when you build a new system with a new operating system, you want everything perfect. Any ideas? Sorry post is so long and thanks in advance.

I'm sure you did but I have to ask, you did get the Win7 64bit driver not the 32bit.

No problem. I just think with the newest i7cpu, Windows7 x64 and all brand new drivers, etc I should have "no problems" at all. I guess not!

Seems to me a Logitech problem. Leave this tab open and see what is up at Logitech.
There seems to be a hoarde of problems with G19 and X58 Motherboards. They set up a seperate section for it.

G19, Windows 7, and x58/790i motherboards: Officia... - Logitech Forums

The first section tells you how to make your settings for the motherboard etc.

    • Solutions we've found:
    • We have found several solutions that, according to user reports, resolved the problem on these motherboards
      • Disable EHCI Handoff: EHCI Handoff is [ENABLED] as a default in most motherboards, and should be [DISABLED] if you are using Windows XP SP2 or greater. Most people do not disable this setting, and in our testing and from customer reports, disabling this option seems to resolve the issue on many motherboards. If you have questions about disabling this feature on your motherboard, please contact your motherboard manufacturer for the BIOS options.
    • Update your BIOS and look for driver/windows updates:We are aware that some motherboard manifactuers have released BIOS updates that resolve some motherboard issues with the G19. We've also become aware of Windows updates that will resolve the USB 2.0 communication issues that cause the G19 to have poor performance. Also check for any sort of motherboard or controller chip updates.
    • Use a non-EHCI compliant PCI-e USB card, and plug the G19 into that: If a USB PCI-e card is "non-EHCI compliant", it means it uses its own drivers, and not the system drivers, to handle the USB communication. This has been reported to us and verified in house as a potential solution for motherboards that cannot disable EHCI handoff.
    • Try spacing out or relocating USB plugs to different ports: Users have reported that plugging the G19 into a different set of USB ports, like front or top ports, OR relocating other devices to the front or top ports, has resolved USB reset issues.
    • Relocate mobile phones and devices that emit radio signals away from the G19's screen: A distance of 15"/45cm from the screen has prevented issues with some motherboards.
    • Reducing radical overclocks: Some users have reported success with their USB communications by lowering their overclock amount. Just like adjusting memory latency to adjust for optimum performance on memory chips, lowering overclocks for some users have resulted in systems with more stable USB communications.
    • Disabling SLi or Crossfire: Not ideal for some people, but has fully resolved the problem for some users.

Thanks, Yea, I've been to their site but couldn't find anything like what you posted. I figured I couldn't be the first one. That's why I contacted them directly by phone. After the tech tried to play it off on everything else and I explained how I "know" it's a problem with THEIR software, I got about a minute of silence. Then he suggested I roll back to earlier drivers. he he he I did discover if I go way back to their first release(3.01 I believe) that it doesn't have a problem. Interesting! I'll keep you posted.
