CPU Not running at full potential.

    Hey guys,

Im on my friends computer and we just installed Windows 7 RC 7100.
Only problem is, his cpu is running at half the clock frequency. His AMD Phenom II 955 BE is supposed to run at 3.2ghz but barely reaches 1.6ghz. The Computer says its 1.6ghz, and no, when theres a load shoved upon it, it does not increase, the CPU is just overloaded. AN example: In Team fortress 2, he used to get over 120+ fps, now? barely reaches 20fps.

Heres a screenshot of CPU-Z, Easy Tune 6, Experience Index, Power Options (My computer has more stuff... ) and Computer Properties.

The power options are on High Performance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jesse

Okay, Miraculously i was able to fix it by screwing around with the bios settings. Last time i did this on his computer i screwd it up n it wouldnt launch, I panicked coz his Dad would literally slit my throat. THank god, there was a button on the motherboard that cleared the cmos for me :) And now i selected the correct multipliers and it works.

    Thanks

EDIT: Nvm, it doesnt work. Fully fake shiz happening here

Bit of an adrenalin rush there. If there is no button, you can also remove the battery to accomplish the same thing.

    Glad you got it sorted.

Was this a clean install or an upgrade? When you look in the bios is the cpu detected correctly? What temperature is the cpu running at? Check these settings and report back.

Um, Its a clean install. We've installed it twice with to no avail.

I Believe the CPU is detected correctly and his cpu temp is runnin at roughly 30degrees celcius

As for the power settings, you can see from the screenshot that it is already on High Performance

I had a problem like this once, turned out my motherboard bios didn't support the cpu. I flashed the updated bios and it worked. Is it a new build or upgrade? What multiplier are u using? U might need a cpu driver.
