    Touchpad gestures failure

My touchpad no longer responds to finger movements to scroll, zoom etc.
Works fine as far as moving the mouse pointer goes. Guess I've tweaked something or turned it off - anyone any ideas how to get it back?

You could try doing a system restore, If possible select a time when you know eveything was working correctly. Fabe

On some pc's when you press the "fn" key and then one of the f1,f2,f3,f4,f5,f6 and so on, it disables and enables the touchpad. Try that with all the f1,f2 etc.... keys.

njonjo - thanks, tried that - no luck. Although I got a shock when the screen went blank suddenly.

Fn/F4 puts the PC to sleep. Learned something new :)

You could try downloading a new set of touchpad drivers from the manufacturer website :)

have you checked the touchpad control panel settings to see if the gestures/tapping/ been turned off? I have synaptic and there are settings for all the things you say your having problems with.

with my touchpad on my laptop in order for those gestures to work there is a process that must be running.. it normally starts up with windows, but i didn't use those gestures (or the touchpad at all for that matter) so i had it not load with windows..

have you changed anything along those lines?

Thanks everybody. It turned out to be the Synaptics driver. Luckily I made an 'Acer recovery disk for drivers' when I got the laptop.
I put the disk in and spotted the missing driver. How it went missing I have no idea. All is well now.

    Thanks again
