DDR2 vs DDR3
I wanted to know is 2GB of DDR3 ram faster than 4GB of ddr2 ram as i was trying to decide if it was worth going from 4GB ddr2 to 2GB of ddr3 as ithought it would still be faster even though it is 2GB less.

The difference will be negligible in games and every day use. You're better off sticking with the 4GB of DDR2 especially if you're only going to be getting 2GB of DDR3.
This may help explain Don't let the SDDR stop you from reading as it covers DDR3 and DDR2 DDR3 SDRAM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The only major from what i know is that DDR3 has less power consumption, apart from that to be honest you are better off with DDR2 just because it is a HECK load cheaper.
Just got 4GB DDR2 ,PC2-6400, 800MHz (2x2GB modules) at Fry's for $79.00. Best Buy couldn't touch it!
Unless your motherboard is capable of supporting both types of memory, then you will have to stick with DDR2. If however it is (and you will need to check the manual on this), you will be able to use DDR3 memory in the appropriate slots but not at the same time as DDR2 (in other words, either DDR2 or DDR3 but not both).

I read somewhere that 2Gb DDR3 == 3GbDDR2 (Performance)
So you are better off with 4gb DDR3.

You will be able to use single/dual/triple channel mode if your motherboard supports it. What you cannot do is to have DDR2 installed as well as DDR3. It has to be one type of memory or the other (obviously, the motherboard needs to be compatible with the type of memory you plan on using).
