    Upgrading Processor

    Hello everyone.

I have a Desktop PC stored away, that has a Single-Core AMD Sempron 2.0Ghz (AM2 Socket) Processor, could that be upgraded to a Dual-Core (AM2 Socket)? Or no? :|

If that didn't make sense let me know lol

We probably need to know the exact make & model of your motherboard. I sure it is dependant on that.

Well I scimmed threw that, it handled Vista Home Premium (x86) with 1.5GB RAM well. But my question is can the board support either of those processors?

Oh and newegg is awsome :P I'll probably end up buying a new Desktop with a AM2+ Socket, and go from their. Wish I could just upgrade my Laptops graphics

    Base processor
    Sempron (M) 3600+ 2.0 GHz
    • 1600 MT/s (mega transfers/second)
    • Socket AM2

    Chipset
    GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

    Motherboard
    • Manufacturer: Asus
    • Motherboard Name: M2N68-LA
    • HP/Compaq motherboard name: Ivy8-GL6

Since these are the specs from Compaq, It must be a special MB made by Asus for them. Motherboards.org does not list it, like I have found so many other MB's in the past on their site. So we need some more members input opinion here. I'm not an expert, but lots of years experience with older computers.
