Can't set up wifi card

Check the status of your internal wireless card through device manager and check the status of said wireless card and which drivers are assosiated with it, if any. There may be a conflict between wireless drivers or your internal card may be using the other connection in order to connect itself because it may be missing some drivers or they may be corrupt.

As for your trackpad drivers: Drivers | Synaptics . Should resolve your issue there though i'm not sure if the drivers you're looking for are specific to your device.

Edit: Oh do excuse me, it seems I misread your original post. I still advise you check your device manager on Ubuntu, but you should get there by going to System>Preferences>Hardware Information and then clicking on the dialogue box titled 'Device Manager'. All other information above is relevent.

Windows update is generally known for only being to locate standard and usually oudated drivers through driver update, but if the device is reporting that it is working correctly then there shouldn't be an issue. If you have the device installed and it says it is working through your device manager, the only other thing I can reccomend from personal experience is perhaps checking the hardware itself for any excess dust or any other issue which may be blocking or interupting it's connection. It may sound trivial, but perhaps removing the device (if you can) and making sure there is no dust located in the port in which it is inserted or the device itself is somewhat essential. Simply just blow into the drive (prefferably with your eyes closed to stop any dust getting in your eyes if any :P ) and try not to use any excess cleaning products at all as you may damage the port or extend this damage elsewhere.

Apart from that, there's not much I can personally offer you in terms of help I am afraid. The only other thing I would suggest looking into if you can is checking via Device manager for a section explaining the memory range of the devices you are using and checking to see if there are conflicting IRQs between devices, though I am not sure whether on ubuntu this will be shown. I would also reccomend checking online for the newest version of the installation for your internal card if you do not currently have this version or the version you are installing onto your system is perhaps the original installation CD that you obtained with the device (It is highly likely that if this is the case there will be an updated version of this installation on the manafacturer's website)

isnt 1394 a firewire connection? have you looked in the devicemanager for yellow triangles?
