Have a look to see if this article helps: Dis-assembly and repair of a Dell E173FPf monitor Although written for a Dell monitor, you should be able to apply the same principles to other makes.

my only experience is with a few laptop screens - i don't know if it applies to the standalone ones.

open notepad in full page (for example), and then shine a torch onto the dark screen.

sometimes you can see the image is displayed correctly, but the backlight has failed.

often you can replace a component called an inverter very simply and cheaply to sort the problem. here's a tutorial.

i've had success with a couple of laptops where the screens appeared dead, but a very dim image was in fact showing.

i don't know if your screens work on the same principle, but there it is.

My accountant just gave me two (2) Hanns-G model HN199DP (MFG MAY 2006)

The power light button comes on but only a black screen
I tried a combo of the buttons, to see if I get a flicker or menu screen, but nothing.
