M/S Wireless Mobile 4000 Installation Error

    Hi All!

New to the forum and would sure appreciate any advice on a perplexing problem I'm having installing a Microsoft Wireless Mobile 4000 mouse. Upon attempting to install the new drivers, its detecting conflicting device software already installed that may impair the functionality of the new device software.

When I authorize it to remove the conflicting software, I'm getting an error that says "Uninstallation can't find standard mouse driver i8042prt.sys in windows system directory. So you can't uninstall this software." I do find that file in a number of locations.

Strangely enough, the mouse does the rudimentary stuff but the software isn't out there to allow programming of the programmable buttons.

    Any ideas??

    Many thanks!

    Uninstall the intellipoint software completely.

Download the latest software from: Software Download

    Clean boot

    Then install new software

Actually, I find some Logitech MouseWare 9.28 that when I try to uninstall, I get the error message above; so it appears the conflict may be with the pre-existing Logitech stuff. It shows up on the uninstall menu but when I try removing it, I get the error. I did download the M/S driver but still got the problem.

    Thanks
