    Seagate help

    Hi All

I bought a Seagate free agent go 1tb external hard drive. And out of no where it just stop working wasn't drop or anything, and now my computer wont see it as a hard drive just as a unknown device and there's a code 28 in the in the device manager. I do have a good amount of data on there that i now cant get to and seagate it telling me its going to be $1,200 min to get my data recovered. I tried to freeze it and it was a no go. Is there any way I can get my files back? I can get alot of my files again I just need to download them again. Im just looking to get about 1gb of pictures and some documents back things that cant be replaced.

One last thing can any one tell me where I can find the drivers for my Free Agent?

    Some one please help me.
    Thanks Keith

    Irish,
What did you do between the drive working and not working?

Very likely though is simply that the cable and power to the external drive is missing/defective.

Have you tried connecting to another computer with the same cables?

    Irish,
Don't worry about the drivers. This is not XP and Win 7 provides the drivers you need.

    Irish,
    Does DiskPart find the disk?
Go to an elevated command prompt and type following command DISKPART

Now type the following command for DiskPart, namely, LIST DISK

You can type EXIT to exit from diskpart.

    Did diskpart find the disk?

If not, is the drive making any noise, are there any lights on it, was the drive giving you problems before?

I didnt see the drive in diskpart. The lights on the drive are on and blinking fast. Before they would fade in and out slowly. I can hear what sounds like the hard drive trying to work and has a small beep here and there.

Is it getting enough power? Mine bleeps and doesn't appear in My Computer if it's underpowered from the usb connections - my old one had a dual connector - try unplugging other usb devices or plugging it into the rear of the computer if it's a desktop.
