Problems installing wireless adaptor software on new computer

    Hello everyone,

I just bought a new Alienware computer from Dell which comes with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed on it. I am trying to install the BT Voyager Wireless Adapter software from my old BT Voyager 1055 USB 2.0 Adapter, which worked fine with my previous computer, but whenever I try to do so I get an error message saying 'error opening utility/setup.exe'. How do I solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Is setup the driver file for the USB adapter? If not you need to install a driver for it. None win 7 drivers can be used if installed in compatibility mode.

(to do that>rightclick the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS)

Are you on a 64-bit OS because it may not be compatible, what is the model for the adapter?

The OS is 64 bit. The adapter is a BT Voyager 1055 USB 2.0 Adapter.

I just tried running the Setup Application for the driver manually, but a box popped up saying 'Please add VID PID' (?) and another box then pops up saying 'device driver software was not installed correctly'

Run it under Vista SP2 compatibly mode then run the installer using the driver off BT.com | BT Voyager ADSL site download the vista driver, it is apparently 64-bit vista compatible. It is known to have problems but you could try it.

I just tried installing the Vista driver but up popped a box stating 'this driver only supports Windows Vista' and the installation then cancelled itself automatically.

Have you looked for a 64-bit driver?

Looking at this site - BT.com | BT Voyager ADSL# I don't see one for 7, but even more troubling is that I don't see one for 64-bit.

You could try compatibility mode but I'm not sure that will work. You may need to replace the thing.

    Good luck.
