Windows 7: Hard drive stupidity

Does your bios see the drive?

Boot into the bios and see what it shows.

should have mentioned that. no, it doesn't see it at all. was working fine until i took it out (at shut-down). perhaps i will see if i can't find that waranty

You no doubt already have, but as a last resort, once again check all cables and make sure they are connected firmly. Maybe try unseating and then seating again.

yes sir, 3 different cables and sitting in all the proper styles. I will try 1 last time but it may take like 4 days as I am heading out. I'd like to thank you all for the helpful tips and your time.

Lol you know what? it might very well be the cables, although its just a guess. I have a brand new power supply cable atatchment, so while the sata works, this particular one might not. I will have to try this out. it brand new though, dang people ripping me off left n right

Nope, its definately the hard drive. don't have the recept for it, wonder if best buy could help me or something.

Contact WD. They can determine by the serial# if it's in warranty.

Thanks, sorry bout the late reply but I did visit WD's website and just with the hard drive's serial number I was able to return it and got a replacement free of charge (other than shipping). So now the new one works great. I'm sticking to SSDs from now on Just need a better job lol
