    Phantom Monitor On Every Startup

I am using an ASUS G75JH with an ATI HD Mobility 5870 and Win 7 64-bit. Every time I start my computer a phantom Non-Generic PnP monitor shows up and changes my resolution etc. until I am able to disable it. then I need to re organize my desktop icons because they all get moved. Having to do this every start up is not very fun and I was wondering if someone had this problem and could help me fix it.

    -Thanks

My guess is that some software on your computer is causing this problem
Try a clean boot and if the problem is gone follow the instructions to find out the specific cause.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

IDK If this helps or not, but my drivers are up to date, VBios is up to date, All windows 7 updates are in.

The only time this happens is when my computer has been shut down for a few hours, usually if I restart it or turn it off and then on again within the hour it is fine.

Are you using CCC to control your resolution and what?

I had this problem until I stopped using Nvidia Control Center to adjust resolution. Maybe something to try?

So what would I do, just uninstall everything but the drivers themselves??

If you type MSconfig into the start menu search, and run it. Under startup there will be ATI CCC or the like.

If you unselect this, then it shouldn't start when you boot.

Well, this worked... IDK why CCC can't just be fixed... but Thanks man... I'm going to see if there might be another way to solve this as well.

Hopefully in the next run of drivers they will fix this issue. It seems like W7 just doesn't play well with others, since I have Nvidia, and you have ATI lol.
