    External HD upgrade

I purchased a new Western Digital My Book Elite 2T external hard-drive today and I'm currently transferring the files from my 1T HD ,
The question is when the 1T is empty should i clean it or format it in any way before using it again for backup images and such
If so what do you recommend?

You don't use it as a boot drive, so it doesn't really matter if you format it or not.
Whatever floats your boat would be fine. If that drive used to hold sensitive information before and you were about to sell it or gave it away...that's a different story...but so
