Generic non-Pnp Moniter Help!

Hey guys , I'm new to these forums and thought I can find a little help here ;

So here's my problem which I'm very sure this isn't the first time is being posted here , I enjoy experimenting to enhance my gaming experience and a few week ago I stumbled upon a Graphic enhancer which works with your Graphic card to produce an Anaglyph Output.

This sounded appealing to me , so I gave it a tried , since I owned a pair of 3D glasses myself.Installed it , and what do you know! It did work! But it came with a price.. after a few minutes of use , my Pc completely crashed , and after I rebooted , NOTHING would open or function EXCEPT on the very few first seconds upon start-up.

I frantically tried to make my way into the control panel to get rid of this now unwelcome product , and after a few tried , I managed , and my pc went to it's normal state once again , ONLY to find that my resolution has been messed up , and my Pc wasn't recognizing my Monitor anymore , only displaying a Generic non-pnp moniter.

I tried re-installing my Graphics card , didn't work , and also plugged in an older monitor I owned and that one DID work , so the problem is with my 22" Prolite monitor which is fairly new.

EDIT: My graphics card is an Nvidia Geforce GTX260

The program is gone , that is for sure , otherwise I'm pretty sure my pc wouldn't even be functioning right now.

And driver-wise , I updated my graphic card drivers but I'm afraid my monitor is plug&play.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: And as for system restore , too much time has passed since it happened , Can't remember exactly when nor do I want to lose any work I've done during these weeks.But I'm sure a system restore wouldn't have done much since it's probably hardware related.

Did you try system restore (you can always undo the restore point if no joy)? If it was working before, chances are the SR point will return the old functionality. A Guy

See above post please , now I just remembered something , important or not , I'll share it.

When I first got my monitor I had a choice of various resolutions , going up to 1920x1020 which is my resolution of choice.The second it went to generic non-pnp , it went down to only 3 miserable choices the highest being 1280x720.

From there I opened the advanced settings and added 1920x1020 from my adapter mode settings which allows you to add resolutions , so at the moment I am working with my normal resolution , the problem is certain games either don't work or look funny.

Assassin's creed 2 won't work , Portal looks odd , and Dragon Age isn't displaying right.

A system restore won't change your documents. Example, you write a word document today, save it, do a system restore tomorrow, your document is still there. The only thing that gets changed is software/programs that get installed.

System Restore returns your PC's system files and programs to a time when everything was working fine, potentially preventing hours of troubleshooting headaches. It won't affect your documents, pictures, or other data, and getting to it is simple: just type "system restore" in the Start menu search box.

And if things worked well before installing the software, well....

See above post please , now I just remembered something , important or not , I'll share it.

Even though you already uninstalled the program.... A Guy is correct in his suggestion. I would highly suggest you give his recommendation a try.... you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

Again, even though you already uninstalled the program, use system restore to restore the computer back to where it was before you installed the program in the first place.

Now, I can understand your reluctance to use system restore after some weeks of work.... but your other alternative may be to reinstall the OS if problems persist.

I understand , I really do , but I'm afraid a system restore after 2 months is asking for too much , it's not just documents or pictures.

I just really hoped this problem can be resolved by tinkering with a few settings here and there.It's really bugging me now , I just need my Pc to recognize my monitor.

Reinstalling the OS for this sort of problem is a bit extreme don't you think?

I mean I'm not questioning your suggestion , I really appreciate it , but I think I'v formatted my Pc so many times over the years I'd go mad if I did it once more.

Understand, and agree :)

Have a look at this.... Repair Install

The other thing you could try, prior to the repair install, is removing the monitor through Device Manager along with it's drivers, restart the computer, and see if Windows will find the drivers. If not, if you have them, try reinstalling them and see what gives.

I think I might actually try that , as long as I keep all my current programs and documents , fine by me.
