    Brother Printer Offline

    Hi again...

I have a Brother All In One which was working fine in Windows 7 but is now contstantly showing up as "offline" in the print queue. I have a home network with my "main" machine my desktop running Win 7. I have 2 other laptops - one is a HP with Vista, and the other is a Macbook Pro. I have been able to print today from the laptops, but the desktop (Win 7) tells me that the machine is offline. To be clear, the machine is on, and is connected to my network.

Windows 7 is being stubborn and is not recognizing that it's online. I've printed to it in the past and now it's not cooperating (when I need it to, of course).

    Help.

Did you try uninstalling/reinstalling the print driver?

I did. After I read your post I downloaded and uninstalled / reinstalled the driver. I was getting the same issues, so I looked into my firewall program (BitDefender). It turned out to be a "switch" that put me onto a Public network vs. a Home/Office network. The printer was disabled due to the fact the settings were to not allow 'outsiders' to utilize the network. Once I reconfigured BitDefender to my Home/Office network, all is well in printer-land.

Why printer looks offline - get it online again !!

I found out how to make your printer get online again:
    go to printer's properties,
    then
    chose "ports"
    then
    click on "configure port"
    then
    UNCHECK "SNMP Status enabled"

Waaza, ur awesome. I work in a high school and all printers we have r brother, this issue started 3 weeks ago after migrating to win 7. It doesn't happen to all printers but sporadic and we didn't know why till now. Today I tried ur solution and the printer came online instantaneously .... Cooooooooooooooooool.

    finally found an answer!

Thank you so much Waaza for solving my issue. My wireless Brother MFC printer continued to go offline periodically - only with my Windows 7 pc. Other devices such as iphone and ipad had no problems. Your solution worked - unchecking that box was the answer for me. No more rebooting to make my PC see the wireless printer.
