maybe try switching the SATA cables. and for the time being, dont attach any other drive to that cable/channel.
Alright... I've switched them before and it didn't help but I'm gonna try it again.

Switched it to a different SATA channel. My BIOS is recognizing it. I decided to change the PNP on the BIOS to where the OS recognizes the new device and not the BIOS.

Windows started and boom - it recognized the device.... starts to install software and then all of a sudden it says it failed and the "device was unplugged." Unfortunately didn't have time to flash the firmware and later when I tried the firmware installer couldn't find a target drive.

This is driving me insane. Obviously I didn't unplug the drive. I've tried different SATA cables and different connections on the motherboard... Do I have a bad drive?

Don't think I know how to do this.

Since deleting my upper and lower filters my itunes says it no longer has support to burn cd's. Lame.

    Thanks! I appreciate it.

I updated the chipset drivers and the thing is still disappearing. I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue at this point? I don't know what to do now...
