Removed heatsink from processor, do I need new thermal compound?

    Ok just picked up som 91% iso to clean the processor with and new tube or artic silver from radio shack.

    How much if a drop of paste do I need? Just a pea size or something?

    Have a look at the picture in Post#30 the little white Pyramid in between the Peas is the right amount

    Less is more, I would say about the size of a lentil.

    Nice, that helped out, thanks. The new compound is on and everything seems to be fine.

    Any idea if I would know if it isnt enough? (Though I'm sure it is)

    I still need to get a good temp gauge for CPU & video cards...

    Not really anyway, some say you can pull it back up and look but really it will spread once pressure and heat are applied. I'm sure your just fine again less is more!
