Adding free space to existing drive?

Hi. I'm wondering if I add free space to one of my hard disk drivers would it delete all the data in it formatting it?

I have a free space of 50 gbs unformatted. I want to add this space to my F: drive using disk management through right click menu "extend partition" (right clicking to F: drive) though I'm not sure if all the stuff in F: drive would be deleted if I do that.

I'm using Win 7 Ulti 32bit. Btw, you have great forum. I've been using the forum for many of the tutorials on 7 stuff. Checked tutorials section before registering and posting this. I couldn't find a related question or tutorial in the forum.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello Eilhart, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Before we are able to give a proper answer, could you post a screenshot of your Disk Management window showing all of your drive's layout? :)

    Eilhart,

Yes, but you will need to first delete the Free space partition one more time to make it unallocated space. Afterwards you will be able to extend F into the unallocated space. You will not lose anything on the F partition.

If for some reason you are asked to convert Disk 0 to a dynamic disk, do not do it. Doing so will make Windows 7 unbootable.

Well, it can't be deleted again as it's greyed out.

So, I created a new volume (H) and then tried to delete it twice to make it unallocated space but I could only delete it once again. Still green free space.

I also tried to delete it through elevated command prompt after creating the H volume again. Diskpart successfully deleted the volume (volume 6 in my case) but still green free space not unallocated space. I don't know what's wrong here

See if using the free program Partition Manager Free Edition to see if it may be able to delete and extend F for you.

It worked. The free space was shown as unallocated space in the program before I did anything though disk management still showed it as free space. I moved the slider and it was done in seconds and nothing deleted as much as I can see now. Thank you very much.
