    New battery not detected

    Hey guys,

I own a gateway nv5814u and bought a replacement battery for it.

I installed the battery, and now the indicator is blinking and windows 7 does not recognize the battery.

The battery works, even unplugged from ac...

    any help is appreciated,

    Thanks

Was this replacement battery the original oem battery, or indeed a "replacement" battery? It's possible if it is an aftermarket battery, it isn't being recognized by the BIOS. Does the battery get recognized in windows at all? Open Device Manager

Start> Type Device Manager in search box> Press enter

Expand the batteries section, any yellow exclamation marks?

remember sometimes its the smallest things: with a spray can of air clean your battery connecting prongs of debris around the connection, it might be a small piece of paper or fuzz ball thats causing a problem, your battery is probably good, but just cant verify it even exist with debris in the way. hope it works

    new no battery is detected

I have the exact same problem and have been searching online for a solution. Gateway NV series and Win7 bottom right corner said "consider replacing your battery" so I bought a "compatible" replacement off Ebay. The new battery installed always says "No battery is detected". What should I do? Would a genuine battery be the way to go? I can return this one, but is the battery the problem or settings in the pc?
