Hybrid HDDs

Back a couple of years there was a lot of hype about the hybrid HDDs. Now it seems to be a lot more quiet regarding those devices. I wonder whether anybody has actually installed a hybrid and what the experience says.
I saw some older performance comparisons with a SSD, a Raptor and a normal Seagate and the numbers for the hybrid were not earthshaking. Any comments?

Friend of mine recently bought a hybrid laptop for a Mac Mini. he said the improvement from the 5,400RPM drive that it used to have was a significant improvement....however he said it was nowhere near the level of performance that he gets from the SSD that he put into his Lenovo laptop. But for $105 for a 500GB hybrid drive for his MAC, he is very satisfied with the purchase.

Should I get a hybrid HDD?
Hi guys. I have an aging Core 2 Laptop. Dell XPS M1530 to be precise. It has a Core 2 Duo @ 2.4, 8600m GT, and a 320 GB 7.2k RPM HDD. Yesterday a friend was talking to me about Hybrid Hard Drives, and that it represented more than 80% to the gain of a normal HDD. So, since I don't have any...
