    4GB ram usage error?

Recently, while looking at my performance in Task Manager, I found something strange...
It seems to be only having a total of 2.7 GB of RAM while there is 4GB ram installed in my computer...
So I then opened the "source check"? (sorry if I got that wrong, I'm using Win7 in Dutch xD so I don't really know what it's called in English :) There's a printscreen in the attachment)
And i then saw that Windows sees that their is acctually having 4GB ram installed but that theirs only a total of 2.7GB ?
How can I solve this to use the full 4GB?
It would really help with my performance with games and such... because i'm actually losing almost 40% of my RAM?
    Thanks for your help :)

It seems that your graphic card uses 1 GB of your total RAM..That could be because it uses system RAM as Video RAM.Maybe you can reduce amount of used RAM in your BIOS,donīt know for sure..

Memory. With 32-bit Windows, you're stuck at 4GB of RAM, and even then, you're only using about 3.3GB

one way you can improve performance is with readyboost (using 4 GIG thumb drive is a good start)

ReadyBoost - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows

    **quote from Microsoft**

Want a simple way to speed up your PC?

Just plug in a USB flash drive or card and let ReadyBoost borrow it. ReadyBoost is designed to help when your PC's memory is running low. Low memory can make your computer sluggish because Windows, which needs a place to stash data, turns to the hard drive. Flash memory offers a speedier alternative.

    1. To turn ReadyBoost on or off
    2. Plug a flash drive or flash memory card into your computer.
    3. In the Autoplay dialog box, under General options, click Speed up my system.
    4. In the Properties dialog box, click the ReadyBoost tab, and then do one of the following:
    5. To turn ReadyBoost off, click Do not use this device.

To use the maximum available space on the flash drive or memory card for ReadyBoost, click Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost. Windows will leave any files already stored on the device, but it'll use the rest to boost your system speed.

To use less than the maximum available space on the device for ReadyBoost, click Use this device, and then move the slider to choose the amount of available space on the device you want to use.

    Click OK.

    **NOTE**

For ReadyBoost to effectively speed up your computer, the flash drive or memory card should have at least 1 gigabyte (GB) of available space. If your drive or card doesn't have enough available space for ReadyBoost, you'll see a message telling you to free some space on it. For best results, use a flash drive or flash memory card with at least double the amount of available space as the amount of memory (RAM) in your computer.

I don't really want to improve the performance.. It's just that I have 4GB installed and that I only can use 2.7GB...

that's the architectural design of windows 32 bit you are limited with ram. and windows 7 uses lots of ram reasons being aero etc (try turning these functions off) so if you use memory hungry programs you are better off opting for 64Bit operating system my suggestion of using readyboost is to your advantage because you can not improve on your ram situation
