Hdd disapears

    Hdd disapears


    I have a seagate hdd that is recognized by the system on boot up but when it comes out of hibernation the hdd isn't recognized. I'm running win7 home prem. 64bit

    Where do you not see it - in Computer and/or Disk Management ??

    Is that an internal or an external disk. And if it is external, is it USB powered or does it have it's own power. I am asking because one possibility is that the power got cut off.

    I am experiencing the same thing myself. Here is a definitive thread on the issue for large hard drives using the windows AHCI driver. I will try the hotfix probably tonight.

    The hotfix appears to have fixed my issue.

    Sorry the hot-fix didn't apply to your case, I think. It still sounds like a similar issue though - the hard drive is not spinning up out of hibernation quickly enough so the system is dropping it. I would suggest you look at the spin-up time reported by SMART, but since it is IDE, that won;t work.

    Have you looked in the system log for ATAPI or other associated errors?
