Bt vision hard drive wont Initialize

I had another bt vision box turn up today so i thought il rip the seagate 160gb sata drive out and use it as an external for pics (brand new out the box)

feeling happy with my self i fitted it in a desktop machine as main drive tried to install win 7 no go

then put it in my laptop as an external it dont show in my computer

it does show in disk management but wont Initialize and dont have no options on the right click

i also spent the last 6 hours running active killdisk to clean the drive off as it will have BT's software on but that failed to

is there any way i can format this drive to be able to use it as a external ?

edit: i should point out it does NOT have a drive letter as it does not show in my computer

diskpart shows it as drive 1

pic below of disk management with eor on trying to Initialize it
