    eSATA

    I bought the following:

    1. StarTech ECESATA22 2 Port ExpressCard eSATA Controller Adapter Card – OEM
    2. Rosewill RX-DUS100 2.5" & 3.5" SATA to USB2.0 & eSATA Hard Drive Docking
    Station
    3. VANTEC 6-Port SATA II 150 PCI Host Card Model UGT-ST310R
I was hoping to use these items for diagnosing potential bad HDD. Am I on the right track here or not? I was thinking I could use them to plug in bad hdd’s without having to take them back to the office; I could use the laptop card and docking station to check them. Will this work?

Update: I have dealt with numerous HDD that while attached to host computer could not be formatted, even through command prompt. Using either the express card or docking station solved these problems immediately! Whether using eSATA or USB, I simply removed bad HDD and attached via methods mentioned above and BOOM! Format successful!
