    HP scanjet 4890 with W7 Pro x64

I use to own a lot of HP products but one by one they end up in the trash can for different reasons. This is my last HP item and this one will probably end up like its brothers but this time it's not because of crappy manufacturing but for support issues. HP doesn't give a $?%? about their customers and I know that from now on it will be ABHP (anything but HP) for me.

Anyway my question is: does anyone around here did manage to make a similar HP scanner to run with W7 x64? And when I say run, I mean flawlessly without any weird patches or things like virtual pc.

    Thanks...you have a great forum

My 4850 works well with Windows 7-64 Pro. BUT, all the functions do not work without installing the Vista programs using compatibility settings for scanning slides and using the buttons.

Is that what you've done with a similar scanner or it's just a suggestion.

I installed the full set of software for the ScanJet 8390 as I was having the same issue with my ScanJet 4890. However, HP Solution Center will not load. I agree email2r2, when the toner runs out for my HP LaserJet printers, they will be replaced by another brand. I can't understand why HP provides drivers for the 4890 on their website, but not the Solution Center!!!

Quite easy to understand...they want you to change your perfectly good printer for a newer one. Anything to save the planet.
As for my scanner, I bought the VueScan software from Hamrick. It recognize any scanner and it's simple to use

I read a review of VueScan stating that if you put multiple images on the bed of the scanner, that the software would scan them as one image instead of allowing you to save them as separate images. Did you find this to be the case??

    Thanks.

I didn't even know that HP had such option. Yes VueScan will scan the entire bed but you can trim any area you don't want. My main purpose is to scan documents and save them as pdf and that it does perfectly. As for images, I don't mind placing them one by one on the scanner.
