    Blu ray drive disappeared

I have an HTPC with blue ray (Windows 7 home premium 64 bit). It worked fine for a long time but now the blue ray drive is not showing anywhere. It still shows in BIOS but it doesn't show in windows explorer or device manager and "add new device doesn't find it". Can any one help?
    Thanks

Hi! bruce, welcome to 7F :)

When all else failed for me:

    Shutdown machine.
Pull all plugs to player, this is obviously easier to do if the player is an external.

Start-up machine till it reaches desktop, then shutdown again.
    Re-do all connections to player.
Start-up machine, the new device wizard should appear, and finish installation.

Found a few more things you can try:

    Description of problem:
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
Scroll a little bit down to the win 7 section the first link will take you to a "Fix-It" link

    Or....

You can try win 7's built-in troubleshooter at:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Hardware and Sound

The second link describes it here:
Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter
