USB keyboard keeps disconnecting

my USB keyboard keeps disconnecting randomly, and its annoying the hell out of me, i think it may be the usb ports, but i have 10 usb ports on my pc (6 in the back 4 in the front) and i have tried several keyboards in every single usb port and they all disconnect randomly, one turns off after a few mins and doesnt turn back on and i have tu pull the usb out of the port and plug it back in, others disconnect and reconnect within seconds (dadum.....dadum)

i also have a USB mouse and it has no problems at all, and i have a 1tb external HDD that is connected as well, and i have tried with these disconnected and connected and the problem is still there

i have updated all my usb drivers and i am using intellipoint and intellitype, the keyboard doesnt do it in my girlfriends computer or my sisters (both running windows 7)

i have also disabled the option for the "computer to turn off these devices to save power" in device manager

the motherboard i am using is the ASUS P7H55-V

first make sure your computer is completely up to date. then uninstall the keyboard drivers and check windows update once again for a keyboard driver.

check the ASUS website for any updates that windows didn't detect for the motherboard.

Make sure all cables are connected correctly and securely.

check another keyboard with the USB ports to make sure the keyboard isn't messed up (unless you already did)

Did this always happen or did it just recently start to happen?

Have you installed any non-proprietary drivers not written for Windows 7 64-bit?

A good example is USB_Lib.sys or something the like used to connect PS3 controllers to Windows.

Did you try to overclock the USB ports, example: USB Polling Rate past 125Mhz?

This messes with Windows USB drivers and also puts Windows in test mode.

If non of the above applies, try restoring Windows system files. There's a way to do it with CMD but I forgot, second method is to use your windows installation DVD and do an upgrade (it will not change all your programs and files).

Yes but I had other troubleshooting in that post as well. Try typing msconfig and click it. Then click the option on that very page that says diagnostic startup or boot. then click okay and restart the system. Let us know how it goes.

Otherwise, thats about all I know how to do unless you can give some more information on your problem.

not much more info i can give you... it just simply a usb keyboard plugged in... after a while it stops working, or disconnects and reconnects within a few seconds

Go into the BIOS and make sure "Legacy" or however it's named USB is enabled.

It could be any number of things. Could just be a bad motherboard with some kind of short, I've had one of those. This may just happen until you replace it. Sorry bro
I know that gets expensive. If you do though, make sure it matches the RAM and CPU, otherwise you will have to buy those as well. Just incase. Though I'm sure you know this, as it looks like you've built your own computer

Before you start replacing stuff start with the simple..... it doesn't cost to check your BIOS settings first.
