wanted to make sure this type of cpu is compat with my mobo...

Hey, I was just wondering (well.. double checking) if my old AMD Athlon 64 3200+ would be compatible inside this Asus M4A785-M mobo. I've looked up exactly what CPU's it works with but I thought I'd drop by here and ask you all because... well... I'd much rather get the opinions and advice from computer anthusieeez, like myself, than reading a box or some random hardware review online. :) Thanks

Hi jimb0616, It's always best to check the mobo manfs recommendations

If it's not on this list:

I don't think it will work.

Damnit! It's not listed... bleh. Still dealing with this flicker / flashing screen crap. I just want my old mobo back... or if my wife would just give me the card to build a NEW pc lol that would be nice. That's what she did a few years ago randomly handed me the card and said "here, go guild a new computer babe" lol anyways, thx for the replies.

If you are very sure that the video cards are not to fault (and the RAM, and the PS), then why don't you return that board as defective and get a replacement?

Is that an old Socket 939 Athlon 64 3200+?

If so, it won't go in an AM2+ board (like the M4A785-M).

You're having problems, and hoping that swapping the CPU will resolve them? Possible, but unlikely. Motherboard, power supply, graphics card, and RAM are all likelier candidates.
