Windows 7: Laptop screen problem, Can hardly see.

LCD panels do not create any light of their own, unlike older CRT monitors. Instead, images are illuminated by means of a backlight. Each individual pixel (and there are 3 types: Red Green and Blue) can either block the light or allow it to pass with varying degrees. Over a period of time, the light generated by this backlight can deteriorate (sometimes intermittently) and this can result in a dim display with poor contrast. Rough treatment of the panel can also lead to problems with the backlight.

What is the make and model of your laptop?

Hi thank's for the reply firstly. I have tried removing the LCD cover but i cannot seem to get the bottom of it off as it's attatched to most of the plastic around the charger port, i could make a video but i don't really want to cause any more damage. Although i would like to get this fixed without paying anymore then i already have

Back to the lappy. Have you searched for an engineers manual as suggested earlier?

It could be the inverter or the backlight, or both.

I have had a similar problem to this in the past and managed to fix it following this helpfull site below, i found a laptop similar to yours. Some of the screws etc may be in different places but will give you an overall guide on how to replace these items if you wish.

How to replace damaged LCD screen in Acer Aspire 5670 or 5620 laptop >> Inside my laptop

My components to replace was inverter £19 and backlight £10, it may take some looking around though for your parts.

Follow this guide ONLY if you want to try yourself otherwise take it to a trusted repair shop.

My laptop was old and out of warranty, it was mainly a testing laptop that i could afford to mess up, although i did manage to fix it.
