    Problem with usb drive

    Hi all,

i have just converted to Win7 home premium 64bit. There is some disturbing problem that i am facing using the new OS. When ever i plug in my usb device, like memory card reader, mp3 player etc, the explorer will freeze or not responding after accessing the files in these device. I am not sure whats wrong. Anyone has any clue on how to tweak the OS? I am previously a Vista user, has no problem with any of the devices. Thanks in advance.

Hello Mahojazz, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Turn off AutoPlay to see if that may help. When you plug in a new device, it will usually take a short moment for Windows 7 to recognize it. Plus, you may have a antivirus or anti-malware program (ex: MSE) set to scan the device when it's plugged in causing a delay before you are able to access it.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Thanks Brink.
i guess the autoplay is the issue. Cause when the explorer opens up, the address bar has a green status slowly moving from left to right. After plugging in the usb drive again for a few more times, its working fine and i can access the files inside. Thanks for all your help. :P
